Building leaders and managers for Victoria’s specialist domestic violence response and prevention sectors.

With the onset COVID-19, Safe and Equal transitioned their Fast Track professional development program into virtual delivery from 2021.

The two intensive leadership courses were designed by Safe and Equal to fast track the development of senior level practitioners and family violence managers.

Working closely with Program Manager, Amelia Ditcham, Reality Learning supported Safe and Equal to produce blended synchronous and non-synchronous virtual training solutions that overcame the issue of Zoom fatigue.

Boosting participant engagement, the program was awarded Diamond at Australia’s online learning awards, LearnX Live!, under the Shift-It-Online category.

Challenges

Maintaining high-level personal engagement that occurred during face-to-face workshops was paramount.
Rapid development was required to meet course delivery dates.
Using an LMS (CANVAS) that was still in the process of being fully implemented across the organisation.

Solutions

Worked closely with Safe and Equal to integrate the intent of each training step into an online solution.
Balanced both synchronous and asynchronous interactivity to reduce “Zoom fatigue”.
Created a backbone template that integrated the virtual meetings with a standalone student-led virtual course.
Supported the organisation to undertake ongoing editing for course longevity.
