HealthAbility’s new online course, ‘Strengthening Gender Equality in Antenatal and Maternity Services’ was launched with a very informative webinar.
This highlighted the importance to address the need for:
- accessible training;
- up skilling anyone in antenatal and maternity services; and
- promotion of gender equality and respectful relationships. This is especially important in light of the critical need to reduce gender based violence with over 2.3 million Australians reporting experiencing some form of domestic and family violence (DFV) in the past year.
This successful co-design has results that speak for themselves. To date, 100% of learners report that the learning objectives were achieved through an ‘excellent use of a mix of reading, presenters, virtual tours and questions to convey the course content in an engaging way‘. Again our use of immersive learning technologies and stories from the lived experience, delivers meaningful and memorable training that has brought healthAbilities’ expertise into real life.
The course is also now available through Federation University’s nursing and midwifery offerings which will sustain the shift away from rigid gender bias in antenatal and maternity services as more professionals and students become more informed.
A huge thank you to Reality Learning …the course is fun and engaging and easy to move through, a testament to their work. Julia Morgan Antenatal Lead, Baby Makes 3.
